A Word from Gary Parsons on His Retirement

Dearest Friends,
With grateful and full hearts, Jeanne and I have announced our retirement from the mission of Young Life, effective Oct. 1, 2019. For the last 30 years, we’ve had the privilege as a family to pour our lives into incredibly gifted leaders and kids across the Former Soviet Union. Now is the time to pass the baton to new leadership that will continue to encourage and support this great movement.

Years ago, my mentor and great friend, David Roper, taught me that ministry should always come out of health and the overflowing of a deep personal walk with the Lord. With that in mind, Jeanne and I will take the next season to think and pray about what is next in our ministry together.

Our experience serving on the Young Life staff for 41 years has been life’s greatest privilege for us. I hope you all know it has never been just our family, but all of you who have stood by us and our heroic staff in the field. You are a part of the incredible work in these beautiful countries, and we want you to continue to pray and support God’s amazing ministry in the Former Soviet Union. Pray with us that our leaders will continue to pursue their relationship with Jesus with all that they have! The Young Life work is growing and Jeanne and I will dedicate the rest of our lives to pray, support and encourage God’s work there.

As Jeanne and I begin this new season of rest, we appreciate your prayers for us as well. We look forward to long extended times away from the phone, together listening to the Lord. He has faithfully guided us through every season of life, and we know He will continue to blaze a path ahead.

From all of us, Tatyana and Alex, Hannah and Katie, we send our love.

Gary and Jeanne
